Synopsis

In Miguel Delibes' novels, Señora de rojo sobre fondo gris is the one in which the author forcefully overturnes his most personal and painful experiences. An autobiographical text par excellence, it narrates the serious illness of his wife and the irremediable end, seventeen years after her death. The author becomes a character: Ángeles, in reality, and Ana, in fiction, is a nuclear character; Delibes also becomes Nicolás in fiction, also becoming a co-protagonist, as he is the character who suffers the loss. The writing of Señora de rojo accredits a novelist already experienced in the art of narration (Preamble. Delibes: the man and the novelist. Preamble.), knowledgeable of resources, perspectives and voices to give vent to his most intimate affliction, the loss of his wife (Autobiography and fiction in «Señora de rojo sobre fondo gris». After the desolation - «No bajan los Ángeles»-, he tries to recover by turning to Literature as a way of salvation; the first attempts give way to great results: Delibes turns his eyes to certain pending issues, aware that they deserve a deeper treatment («¿Se han ido los ángeles?» Vivencias recobradas).
